Flying V 68 Pickups position / angle

Hello everyone. First of all, excuse my sloppy english because this isn't my mother tongue.

Anyway, I recently bought a Gibson Flying V 68' Classic White. I wanted to buy one that was used already because I know they don't make ebony fretboard on CW Flying Vs now, but there was no good offers.

Basically, I'm a noobie when it comes to guitar, especially when it comes to technical things (strings, pickups, setings in general) but I found the angles of the pickups on this guitar were really weird. SOme other guitarists I know told me it wasn't normal so I took the guitar to a luthier and he put some foam beneath the pickups to correct the angle a bit. Still, I don't know if they are ok now. I made a little drawing so that you can see the different positions I'm talking about.

What I'm wondering is : are the pickups supposed to follow the strings angle, or are they supposed to be aligned with the pickguard like they are now ?

Teach me everything :).

P.S : A bonus question, is it possible to find a paint with the very same color than the classic white one ? I asked the luthier to change the nut, I wanted to have one made of bone instead of plastic. Apparently, the nut was really deep into the wood and stuck like mad so the luthier had no choice but to force a little bit and now they are some minor scratch around the nut. I'll just be happy to repaint it if possible.

Thanks a lot !

Okay... how do you guys have yours on your guitars ?

I took a look at a friend's Gibson today, a Les Paul. One pickup followed the string path and the other one was like the drawing number 2 in my original post. He said he bought it like that and never touched it.

Did you need to adjust your pickups on your new Gibson guitars ?

All of mine (Gibson Flying V, SG Standard, and 2 Les Paul Specials) are like drawing #2 in your first post. I thought that was how they're supposed to be. I'm not sure if all Gibsons are like that though.
