surfpup Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Finally got a chance to record a couple of clips of my new Ceriatone 18 watt TMB Marshall clone. The first part is the non-TMB channel - the gain is dimed and the master is at about 9:00. The second part is the TMB channel - the gain is about 12:00 the master remains at 9:00. I tried to play basically the same thing in each clip for comparison. I'm really happy with the amp so far. Definitely the best $700 I've ever spent. Here's the vid... http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=AtQtBckhvq8
littlekenny Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 wow, sounds great. Did yu make it yourself or did you buy it pre-assembled?
surfpup Posted November 22, 2008 Author Posted November 22, 2008 wow' date=' sounds great. Did yu make it yourself or did you buy it pre-assembled?[/quote'] Thanks, Kenny. I bought the chassis completely assembled. I had Nik wire it with a post phase inverter master volume instead of the normal pre-gain type master. Then I bought the cab off eBay - made by Trinity. I had to mod it a bit to fit the chassis in, but it's in there tight now.
deepblue Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Surfpup... Great video! Such a crisp sound, and I really dig your vibrato. When you switch to the lead chanel its gets a nice edge to it. Well done my friend!
saturn Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Very cool. Can I ask why it's UK.Youtube? I thought you were in FL.
Tim Plains Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Sounds awesome! Great play room you have there.
surfpup Posted November 22, 2008 Author Posted November 22, 2008 Surfpup... Great video! Such a crisp sound' date=' and I really dig your vibrato....[/quote'] Thanks, deepblue. That's a great compliment. Very cool. Can I ask why it's UK.Youtube? I thought you were in FL. Thanks. Ya know I noticed the UK thing today too - and it never did that before. In fact I checked to see that my country and zip code were correct - they were. If I go to my bookmarked link (which doesn't have the uk in it) it adds the uk in! Strange - like a redirect. I may email them to see what's up. Maybe I'm being encouraged to emigrate. Sounds awesome! Great play room you have there. Thanks - it's half office and half guitars and amps. Not a big room, but it works.
djroge1 Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 That sounds pretty good. I had to check out their web site. I like their Train Wrecks and I was looking to see if they made a Dumble Overdrive. Your amp sounds great though!
surfpup Posted November 23, 2008 Author Posted November 23, 2008 Your amp sounds great though! Thanks! I had a chance to compare it to a friend's 50 watt plexi the other day side by side through identical cabinets and an A/B/Y switch. For those of you interested in such things - the 18 watter had a much throatier mid-range, smoother. But it didn't have the low end woof of the Plexi or the same high-mid sizzle. However, both heads together was total Marshall nirvana! I needed to change my shorts afteerward!
surfpup Posted November 23, 2008 Author Posted November 23, 2008 Shameful self spamage... Now that the CeriaTone is dialed in, the Blackheart Little Giant is out the door. For sale in the Trading Post section - headed to eBay otherwise...
HeadCase Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 Pretty sweet tone ya got there surfpup!!! Congrats on the new rig, enjoy. .... thanks for sharing, sounds awesome.
djroge1 Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 Since you posted this I've been checking out their web page. I found out their Overtone Special is their version of a Dumble Overdrive. I'm not up on amp building. Surfpup you said you bought your chassis assembled, what is the difference between getting that and one with an "assembled board?" For the kits, do you have to completely assemble them? I guess because I've never built an amp (yet) I don't understand the lingo. You can PM me if you want - I am interested in trying to build one.
surfpup Posted November 24, 2008 Author Posted November 24, 2008 Yeah, I'm no amp builder either - though I have a good friend who is. He wanted me to order a kit, but I ordered it ready to rock - package 4 The other packages require you to do some soldering. I'll PM ya some info later.
