SGJ Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 I searched and didn't find any thread regarding this question. Just wondering how many of you prefer leaving the pick guard on your les pauls to removing it. I've had mine off for years, but recently put it back on and am liking how it looks.
AXE® Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 I'll play... Solid color on... All others off....
Dynadude Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 My DC Studio came without, and I like that look.
SGJ Posted November 22, 2008 Author Posted November 22, 2008 You crazy Canadians and your polls.... I'm bored.
AXE® Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Make a snow man. Les Paul included... Pick Guard optional...
littlekenny Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 you guys should really try painting your pickguard
:oilpit: Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 you guys should really try painting your pickguard Kenny, that is a SERIOUS tone sucker that ain't funny it ain't funny at all.....
elessar820 Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 I like them both ways. I added a pickguard to my BFG, then decided to take it off. After filling the screw holes I decided to put it back on, this time I ordered a three ply black/cream/black guard. I figured it'd match with the sanded top edge that exposes the maple top and the BB3 that's going back into it. If and when I get a new LP, if it doesn't have a pickguard, it isn't going to have one.
AXE® Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 The way i seez it is....... My standard came with the guard off, with the the option to install, if I so desired. I did not desire so thus no pick guard on the Standard. My Gold top Classic came with the pick guard already affixed to said guitar with out the option to install. Therefore I left it on...
Tim Plains Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 On...regardless of colour. Anybody that says otherwise is wrong...
AXE® Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Again Tim I will refer everyone to your avatar...
rocketman Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 I'll play...Solid color on... All others off.... +1 to this. I do love solid black or gold with a guard on.
GuitarJunkie Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Off, off and off... Oh, and I almost forgot, off...
Silverbursted Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 I think they just add to the overall glory of the Lester.
Ian Martin Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 I searched and didn't find any thread regarding this question. You must not of searched very hard' date=' mate! I like them off. However it's not just a cosmetic thing. my guitars don't get scratched from playing [i']below[/i] the strings, they get scratched ABOVE where I strum. To have a pickguard at the bottom is rather useless.
dpgumby62 Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Pickguard off for me. I removed it from my 70 LP the day I bought it, it has been in the case ever since. My Slash sig LP didnt come with one at all, which is fine by me.
AXE® Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Pick guards ar for those with limited motor skills...
clance Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 Well I don't really have a choice. Both my Gibson Explorer and my made in Mexico Fender Jazz Bass have massive body routs under their pickguards. If the wires ran THROUGH the body, then I'd prefer the pickguards off, but this decision was made for me.
myspace.com/jessenoah Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 because i am a page-wanna be, of course i have to have the pickgaurd on, every les paul w/out a pickgaurd looks like a pos, (prs)
HeadCase Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 Always on!!! My Supreme is gay. (left is right, right is wrong!) Not that there is anything wrong with that...
tepidy Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 All the pauls I've owned always came with guards on so I leave them on (hate looking at holes and slight indent from bracket in body) although I think they look slammin with them off. It is more comfortable for me to play with them on (place to anchor my pinky)
ninety1vee Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 black beauty's on all others off (especially burst finishes)
