EuroAussie
For those that gig regularly and play covers, there must be a track that the audience loves, but after playing it for the gazillionth time ... you absolutely hate. For me its Wonderwall ... but we had a crack at this Ryan Adams inspired version at todays rehearsal. Had a go on the Bird', I think I much prefer this more subtle version than the orginal and I might be pursuaded to dust it off again. Anyway, its Sunday so somebody has to post a track, right ? http://soundcloud.com/euroaussie/wonderwall-ryan-adams-cover

E-minor7
Liked the laid back mood of you two, , , , three. The Bird sounds terrific. Already very loose. . .
EuroAussie
Cheers Lads. I think this is a good reminder how a little tweaking with arrangements can give a stale song (with a strong fudamenatal quality) a new lease of life. Simply by changing key, tempo and or variation of melody. Thanks for listening and your comments as always ! EA
fretplay
Nice version EA I like it and 'brave'of you to put it up. I put up 'Sweet Carolina' and got shot down 'cause it wasn't like Ryan' which I hadn't intended it to be. I think Adams and Dylan fans worship at the throne so much that nothing that moves away from the master is acceptable. You are a little safe on this as basically it's an Oasis song. Here's mine, not like either.
EuroAussie
Lovelly guitar work there Fretplay. I always thought this track deserved to be played slower, with feeling and your is another excellent example. I think we might actually finish our gig with this track, played in the more laid back style. It is OK to finish on a quiet note than a big spray, and in many ways actually even more powerful and momorable .. Nice version EA I like it and 'brave'of you to put it up. 57classic
Great job on both of those versions. EA, the bird sounds fantastic. Fretplay, nice use of reverb-very effective.
fretplay
Thanks Guys, I do like an outro. Clapton's play out(I Think it's called a coda) on the end of Layla is just great, always liked it.
EuroAussie
Thanks Guys, I do like an outro. Clapton's play out(I Think it's called a coda) on the end of Layla is just great, always liked it. Actually we took quite a bit of inspiration from your high reverb approach and I played around in Garageband last nite added some heavy Hall reverb to the final mix, which I think in this case really enhanced the mood and feeling of the song, especially on the vocals. http://www.reverbnation.com/play_now/song_14056949?utm_campaign=opengraph&utm_content=song&utm_medium=link&utm_source=facebook

Some friends of mine have a lot a success with 'Make me feel so fine' I know they close with it. I think it's the words that make it so popular, women and booze can't beat that. I've attached a pilot but it really needs a band to do it, I'll send you the chords if it's your kind of thing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNFCJeVEZCM
fretplay
Was talking about covers with a friend and he was saying that Dylan never plays a song the same. I know Ryan Adams is the same. So you are in good company, keep on doing it!!
