Robert Sander
Hi, what is the neck thickness of a current LP Traditional (the one with the 50s rounded profile) in the 1st and 12th fret? How does the neck of the Traditional differ from the neck of a current R9? They don’t have a Traditional in the local store, so I can’t compare them side by side. Thanks, Robert
CowboyBillyBob1
The R9 is not chambered or weight relieved in any way. All Traditionals regardless of configuration i.e. Bigsby, Pro 50 or 60 or whatever one you are looking at is chambered or weight relieved in some way. There are other differencs as well. BobB
Average thickness at the 1st fret is .818" and at the 12th fret the average thickness is .963" on the Gibson USA '50's rounded neck profile.
drew365
Every neck I measure seems to vary a little. My '07 Standard Faded w/50's neck is: .806" and .985". So it's a little slimmer at the 1st fret and thicker at the 12th. I think Gibson shows a slim 60's at about .785" at the 1st fret.
