vincentw
Hey y'all: I just picked up a gutted Jack Casady bass and I'm wondering if any of you have some recommendations for alternative electronics that will give me a passive old-school tone? I guess the first hurdle is using something that will fit in the current pickup cavity. Any ideas?
ramone57
this guy will wind just about any kind of pickup you can think of. he's been working on a low impedance pickup based on the lo z pickup used in the Gibson Triumph. that might be a good fit. it would be worth emailing him to see what it would cost. I don't think there are many pickups that would drop right in the route in the JC. http://www.sgd-lutherie.com/ riceage-musicandmore or greatdealz1967 (sellers on ebay) may have something that might fit, too. good luck, I hope you can locate a suitable pickup! BobB
The body style is not that different from the EB-2 and those had a cool passive old school sound. Allparts has a pick-up which looks to be about the same size as the original JC p/u. http://www.allparts.com/Bass-Humbucking-Pickup-Bridge-p/pu-0419-010.htm
rd_artist
I don't think the mini hum will fit in the jcb-1 space, although it looks close, I think the jcb-1 is a bit narrow.
