Deluxe, anyone?

Way back in the early-mid 70s, 'bought a gold top Deluxe with the small humbuckers. It has been a good and faithful guitar, a variant Les Paul himself had a particular fondness for.

Yet virtually no one plays them.

Is this picker one of the only Les Paul Deluxe drivers on the planet?

Ace Frechley played one in a beautiful cherry sunburst (which i wish gibson would still make them).

My brother has a cherryburst 70's Deluxe. Pete Townshend has a few of them. I think they're cool.

Interesting. Before I checked the forum this morning I was wondering exactly the same

thing -- why so little said about the Deluxe? I bought one about a month ago.

Love it. I was looking for something to fill the space (tone-wise) between my LP Standard and

my Strat. Something with more fat than the tele, more clean

than the LP Standard. Very versatile. It gets me pretty close to a pedal steel

sound and yet does well for jazz. Maybe too much treble on the bridge

pickup for some players, but it's easy to deal with by cutting back on the tone.

And I like the thicker neck.
