What's the best way to clean a guitar with a nitro finish? All my other guitars have a poly finish and I use a chamois on those...is this ok for the Gibson? It's probably been asked a few times, I just don't wanna mess it up using something I'm not supposed to use...

Try this, I love the stuff :

Gibson Vintage Reissue Guitar Restoration Kit

* Restorative Finish Cream

* Premium Fretboard Conditioner

* Low-Abrasion Metal Cleaner

* 2 polishing cloths

You can find it cheap on eBay, around $13 plus $6 on shipping. Use to be more expensive.

*Don't forget to check feedback before purchasing*

Good luck.

I have e-mailed Gibson with the same question.

Like you, I dont want to mess up a good thing by using the wrong cleaner.

They told me the" Luthiers Choice Hi Gloss Polish"...The little bottle with red lettering.

1.5 oz bottle cost $2.50 up here in Canada.

A nice clean 100% cotton cloth and youre off to the races.

66 has it right. The Nitro is more like a skin than a finish. It was designed to breath. Most household and car polishes will ruin the

nitro if used for an extended time because they will fill the pours and seal the Nitro. I use the Gibson stuff on ALL my guitars.

Good question though

Thanks guys, I think I'll swagger on in to my local G.C. and grab one of those Gibson kits, I got one of those "King Of The Blues" cards for competing, and can get 15% off on that, I used it to get the Goldtop, but yeah, I always just use a chamois and my breath on the others and it does pretty good, but I noticed on my Epiphone the other day theres tiny scratches, and I don't know if it's from the chamois or what, and I DON'T want that to happen to the Gibson, that would rather suck.
