daveinspain Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 Hmmmm... I heard Johnny A. paid like $30,000 to Gibson to get his signature guitar made. Lets hope it will cost less than that.

slimjimdom Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 Gold Flake Goldtop? Gold Inlays? Nickel Hardware? Bling Bling!
voyteskimo Posted November 26, 2008 Author Posted November 26, 2008 So i see a few of you are wondering where i got the money. I won a small lawsuit against a company who basically F***** me over... As for Carvin....NAH Gibson or nothing.... Apparently my large sum of money isnt enough to buy a Dark Fire guitar in New Zealand...Its gona cost $8000NZD...
Thundergod Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 I would go for a standard or traditional and ad all the goods later: Kahler trem, pickups of your choice... and of course change the electronics. Prety cheap.
SRV-Zeppelin Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 voyteskimo, I have your avatar as my desktop background... +1 on the awesome pic! and good luck with the Custom shop order... although I'm sure Tim will tell you to get a 50th anniversary R9...
Murph Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 Neck through? 24 fret? Gibson? Best of luck. Murph.
bryvincent Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 Apparently my large sum of money isnt enough to buy a Dark Fire guitar in New Zealand...Its gona cost $8000NZD... your custom gibson is gonna be more expensive than that.
canon_mutant Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 As for Carvin....NAH Gibson or nothing.... Hey look, I am not affiliated with Carvin in any way OK but have you actually owned or even played one? If you want a neck through design, custom color, custom bling, and the electronics package you mentioned, Carvin can absolutely get you damn close and I know from personal experience they make absolutely wonderful axes. To get a Gibson with these specs unfortunately is going to mean . . . nothing. Good luck to you though . . .
Guitarooster52 Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 I would go for a standard or traditional and ad all the goods later: Kahler trem' date=' pickups of your choice... and of course change the electronics. Prety cheap.[/quote'] +1 for Thunder's idea...;)
voyteskimo Posted November 26, 2008 Author Posted November 26, 2008 Anybody got any ideas about how much the Robot hardware is going to cost when it becomes available? Installation is no problem, know a really good luthier. Buying a Traditional, and then installing Robot hardware would be sweet...
Murph Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 Hate to POP your bubble, but Gibson ain't gonna build a neck through Les Paul with 24 frets. This is STUPID. Carvin is where you need to go. But then. You'll still have a CARVIN. BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Murph.
canon_mutant Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 Hate to POP your bubble' date=' but Gibson ain't gonna build a neck through Les Paul with 24 frets. This is STUPID. Carvin is where you need to go. But then. You'll still have a CARVIN. BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Murph.[/quote'] And, yes I still have a Carvin, goin' on 20 years, and still lovin' it. And it ain't never [wonderful grammar!] seen the inside of a luthier's shop nor has it needed to despite being 1/5 the cost of my one and only Gibson that's now been in the shop twice. Let's not be trashin' other guitar makers here. Gibson may not like the direction this thread heads . . . My 355 is a tone monster when it's right [when it's right] and I intend to own an LP perhaps next year just because they serve their purpose. So does my Carvin, my Fender, my Breedlove Atlas, and had it not been for a $350 Peavey, I wouldn't even be playing today. I say thanks to all . . . There's at least 3 other guitars I want to own before I leave this earth but dare I say they're not Gibsons. Don't tell anyone OK?
Murph Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 A Carvin is a Carvin. Put it on Ebay and try to sell it. Play it in a bar and try to tune it. I like their bass amps. And their P.A. gear. But their guitars are junk. JUNK....................... Sorry. Murph...
Ian Martin Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 Anybody got any ideas about how much the Robot hardware is going to cost when it becomes available? Installation is no problem' date=' know a really good luthier. Buying a Traditional, and then installing Robot hardware would be sweet...[/quote'] Have they said anything about selling the Robot hardware separately? To my understanding, they're providing something to UPGRADE the old Robot guitars to new specs, but you can bet the core system is in place. Honestly I kind of got the impression that there were some cords or something running from the control cavity through the inside of the neck. I HIGHLY DOUBT they will ever provide Robot technology so you can retrofit any guitar with it. Mebbe in like 15 years. Even if they did still do Custom guitars, I have a feeling yours would be the most expensive and time consuming EVER made.
Silverbursted Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 Since your money is burning a hole in your pocket, you should go for an original Goldtop... Original 1952 Goldtop
Silverbursted Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 Or better yet...and this one is on sale, a real bargain. Original 1957
