Bigsby Vibratos

So as many of you have read in other topics I've posted in, I recently acquired my first Gibson guitar, an SG. I've always been around Strats and the like, with the various tremolos that should include locking nuts. When you use Bigsby's or similar units to do divebombs, do they completely knock your guitar out of tune like a tremolo would on a strat without a locking nut?

Tremolos like the Maestro or Bigsby aren't made for divebombing. As you mentioned - locking nuts or double locking setups are best for large note warping. However, with an appropriately setup nut and saddles (no pinch points) and lube, or rollers, you can get away with some small bombing runs on the Maestro, Bigsby and Fender trems. . B)

FWIW I second BigKahune's comments.

I have Bigsbys on both of my SGs and both have roller bridges. One has a Wilkinson and the other has a Schaller. The Schaller is a direct drop in. The Wilkinson required routing for new posts. I would highly recommend them if you install a Bigsby.

I have one on my SG Classic. Love it too! I installed with a Vibramate mounting plate. Also use their string spoiler- can restring the axe in under 2 minutes now. For increased tuning stability I have a tone pros graph tech bridge replacing the stocker, and I make my own lube from

Graphite and Vaseline, which I Dan on the nut- which I had replaced with bone.

Bigsby is my favorite tremolo system, bar none.
