MikeRom Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 Home: Crate V8 (sweet) Band: Epiphone Bues Custom 30 (fan-f'ing-tastic!)
jmac Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 nothing beats a good marshall halfstack, but until i can save up for one of those, i'm using a little fender frontman 25volt that sounds great...but a good LP can make most amps sound good
Thundergod Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 Home Vox Pathfinder 15r Studio and gigs Vox AC30 custom classic 2x12, Fender 70s Princeton. Great sound/tone with any guitar, not just les pauls.
RichCI Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 a good LP can make most amps sound good I find the opposite to be true: A good amp can make any guitar sound good.
jmac Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 I find the opposite to be true: A good amp can make any guitar sound good. i hear what you're saying, but i've owned a few crappy guitars that even great amps couldn't help. my LP has made most amps sound great. i can see both being true.
djroge1 Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 I only have one amp right now and it was bought for a Jazz gig I used to do. Fender solid state - M80 with a Mesa Boggie V-Twin preamp. However, after Surfpup's post about his Ceriatone I checked out the web site and after Christmas I'm going to start saving for their Overtone special (dumble overdrive clone).
Thundergod Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 i hear what you're saying' date=' but i've owned a few crappy guitars that even great amps couldn't help. my LP has made most amps sound great. i can see both being true.[/quote'] I feel the same way... I heve owned lots of amps... some were supposed to be great... but they sounded crappy with a crappy guitar. Whe I got my gibson, even the crappy amps sounded great. Which makes me wonder if I wrongly blamed the amp when the guitar was the POS screwing all up.
Dynadude Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 I use a late 70s 135 Fender Twin with a Fender Satellite effects cab, both looped from a Marshall G80R and a Digitech GNX3 effects board. I don't gig anymore, so I can have an elaborate setup. It's loads of fun to experiment with all the different tones and effects. I've come up with some cool stuff with this rig. The only drawback is that I have to keep a notebook with the settings written down to reproduce some of the stuff I come up with. Have any of you ever tried a Fender Satellite? I think it sounds amazing, especially with an E/A guitar, or a good clean electric. It gives a 3d effect with a side firing speaker.
KSG_Standard Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 Marshall JTM 30 1x12 Mesa Boogie Blue Angel 1x12
crossroadsnyc Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 * Marshall 1974x * Marshall Vintage Modern * Fender Blues Junior NOS I'm torn between the two Marshall amps as to which one is my favorite.
Murph Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 Mesa Blue Angel 1;12 w/ V30. The ultimate club amp. Sometimes a Fender Prosonic 2;10. Not a Lester though, a 339 or an SG. My daughters studio (when she gets it, anyday now) will go through a 71 Champ. Murph.
