.

The guitar dater project merely tells you if the serial number fits into Gibson's serial format.

For confirmation, email Gibson at . service@gibson.com . with your serial and, if you like, a snap of the guitar (2mb limit). For post 70s guitars, Gibson can most times tell you the model, finish, and hardware.

What BigKahune said.

And just to expand slightly on what he is saying;

Just because a serial number fits the guitardater profile it doesn't mean the guitar is a genuine Gibson. There are many Chinese fakes with a real Gibson number stamped into the peghead.

As BK suggests the most foolproof method of checking a 2009 Trad would be to e-mail customer service. They'll be able to tell you everything you would like to know as regards model, finish, hardware etc...

Snaps posted here are usually inspected with a fine toothed comb as well............

Hi, I just bought this LP, serial number is 03263591 I think I understand how the serial number works – I believe it is the 91st guitar made on the 326th day of 2003. (Please correct me if I'm wrong).

However, I am hoping someone can tell me a bit more about the model, what pickups came with it etc - I know it has a Seymour Duncan SH4 or 5 in the bridge now, not sure what it originally had or what it has in the neck.Would appreciate any advice - I'm a Gibson newb.
