Vette77
Since I plan on buying my first LP this summer, I plan on getting a new amp since I figure hooking it up to a 60x2 line 6 spider III amp wouldnt be right for it,since although it's a powerful amp, it doesn't really fit my musical tastes anymore. What would be a good amp for a les paul that is relatively inexpensive(500-1000)? I'm also into classic rock like Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton, The Who, Focus, and Jimi Hendrix if that helps towards the sound I'm looking for. Vette77
That sounds like something I would definitely go for. Brand wise though is there anything specific I should know about sound differences?
RichCI
You can get a very nice amp for that price range, particularly if you look for something used. Are you planning on playing just at home or will you be playing with a band?

SRV-Zeppelin
Anything from the Marshall avt series... not tube amps, they have a tube pre-amp though... wonderfully versatile amps, great Marshall crunch, and good bang for the buck. Vox and Fender also have wonderful tube amps as well if they fit your style... you can get a Fender princeton (BEST BLUES AMP EVER) for about $1300 new. RichCI
The later Marshall Artist series (4203 combo and 3203 head), which are also hybrids but solid state preamp and tube power amp, are supposed to be very good too. Good enough for The Reverend Billy G...
tepidy
I use a THD Flexi 50 with THD 2x12 cab although it is pricey. If your price range is up to $1000.00 go for a fender deluxe or a used mesa boogie lonestar
