Sunday tune - Cant beat a J-45/ SJ for gool ol' fashioned blues rock

We had a gig at a new bar last nite. A Cafe that is slowly turning itself into a honky tonk bar ... on the wrong side of the river.

The owner put in a stage, and is adding a PA and lighting in coming weeks, funky little joint with just a few tables.

We decided to put together a bluesy set for this place and so after playing just with the HB TV for a few months I took the SJ back into rotation for this gig.

Have to say Im glad I did as for these sort of tunes you just cant beat that growly, direct tone of slope shoulder Gibson, cuts through like a razor.

Starting to experiment with plaing some more lead, with a looper for rhythm, still a bit shakey but you gotta have a go sometime, right ..?

Here's a track from last nite that I think really shows the beauty of the slope shoulder G in its glory. We had some feedback problems as its first time we played there and I think I had the amp too close to the guitar, second set was better.

These small, intimate gigs are fast becoming my favourite, and the owner asked us if we can play there every second week, which was great news afterwards.

cheers,

EA
