nosbig
Ive just decided to semi retire my 2003 R9 (braz board)due to the damage risk in some of the venues we play? Ive just bought a 2011 Standard (CHICAGO BLUE)to replace it and Im well impressed with it to be honest? Ive removed the pcb board and hard wired it with CTS pots and orange drop caps and it sings!! Im gonna use the R9 when we gig on a stage because the damage risk from drunken punters will be less?? How do others get on with using expensive axes in pubs etc. Are you a bag of nerves or am I just a wimp? Oh Yeh, what pups are fitted to my Standard 498t and 490`s?? Cheers, Terry
btoth76
Hello Terry! I completely understand You! I don't even like people to approach my instruments. They never do, tough. I am an armed man. Cheers... Bence
pippy
I only occasionally play open mic and locally - so it doesn't really count like gigging would - but I always take my R0. Sits in a case until needed then back in it's case until the end but swapped around with the other players' guitars 'after-hours' so we all tend to get to sample an interesting variety of kit. People round these parts seem sensible enough not to cause me even a slight amount of concern. P.
Thermionik
I take my old girl dahn the pub for a wail. Sure - she lives in the case, but she's a guitar..... .....and guitars are for playing. Damage? Theft? Two comments:- 1) It's only a material thing - so long as you and yours are OK, "stuff" don't much matter. 2) Look after her, keep her close, glower at anyone who even thinks of reaching for her. (Thanks to Johnny "LesPaul" Vasco for taking the picture when we dropped in on the drive back from California.)

Yeh i agree to a point and i have been gigging it from new, but were playing more and more and have had a few close shaves (inc. the drummer? I also onow its climbing in value and dont want to compromise that with say, a busted headstock? Love the pic of your G/T, have a look at my avatar??? Bradmeister
I've done more damage to my own R8 than the audience has. :-) My lead guitarist has scraped it a bit with his Jackson a few times on tight stages, too. With that said, I did get an Edwards Les Paul to play in the clubs downtown after a friend had his LP Standard stolen at a gig. I bring my R8 to the more suburban gigs where I can keep a good eye on her. -Brad
