I haven't done much with electrics lately except for quickie setups on ebay flips. I've had SG lust for a while and just to slake my humbucker thirst I dug out the '71 LP.

Man, that thing is a beast. I swear it startled me every time I hit a string. I kept turning the amp down.

Got it in the spring of '97. I had a 1946 Martin 00-18 that had been refinished and had more cleats holding the cracks together than it had Nazareth wood. I wanted something with humbuckers so I swapped it over the phone. I've had about 15 LPs over the years from a '55 gold top to a '99 Custom and all types, colors, Norlin, pre Norlin, and Henry in between. This one is the winner, hands down.

Now that's cool. What's going on with the bridge though? Never seen one where the studs have had to be adjusted that much backwards. I guess it must also have tall saddles to avoid the strings touching the intonation screws?

Hell, I dunno. I don't ever recall setting the intonation. That bridge is an aftermarket because the original had the dreaded tune-o-matic sag. I didn't even know that was (#1) possible or (#2) somewhat common at the time I saw it. All I knew was that the curve did in no way match the radius of the board and the action had to be set quite a bit higher so the D and G strings didn't buzz. I've since read that it does happen. The "new one" (installed in 1998) is a cheapie aftermarket TOM. I would like to someday at least replace it with a new original Gibson part.... wonder who makes them now? Can't possibly be US...right?

It's a sandwich body Norlin but as stated, I've owned a bunch. They're gone, this one is still here.
