ksdaddy
I haven't done much with electrics lately except for quickie setups on ebay flips. I've had SG lust for a while and just to slake my humbucker thirst I dug out the '71 LP. Man, that thing is a beast. I swear it startled me every time I hit a string. I kept turning the amp down. Riffster
That's a cool guitar, some serious checking going on. How long have you had this guitar?
ksdaddy
Got it in the spring of '97. I had a 1946 Martin 00-18 that had been refinished and had more cleats holding the cracks together than it had Nazareth wood. I wanted something with humbuckers so I swapped it over the phone. I've had about 15 LPs over the years from a '55 gold top to a '99 Custom and all types, colors, Norlin, pre Norlin, and Henry in between. This one is the winner, hands down. CowboyBillyBob1
Are those Gibson pick ups? I do not think I have ever seen that before.
Bender 4 Life
GREAT guitar KSD !! what kind of P-180s are those? I tossed a set of cheap GFS "Dream 180s"(vintage wound) into an Epi '56 Goldie and I LOVE 'em ! the middle 3-way spot is one of the sweetest "sweet spots" I have on a hummer guitar. pippy
ksd! I can't believe you could leave a thing that sweet in its case! Wonderful guitar! P.
ksdaddy
Those are DiMarzio DLX pickups. I'm not one to swap pickups but the original ones were pretty anemic. These were 'drop in'. (I wouldn't do it otherwise). I don't know the specs but they are over the top.

Versatile
Sounds like interesting P/U's... What we all desire now is a sound clip And that finish beats all the faux 'roady' stuff appearing today... V

Now that's cool. What's going on with the bridge though? Never seen one where the studs have had to be adjusted that much backwards. I guess it must also have tall saddles to avoid the strings touching the intonation screws?

BigKahune
. I don't think I've ever seen such fine looking checking making such a killer mojo look. Interesting pickup choice. That baby is just oozing mojo. Very sweet Scott. . B) .

ksdaddy
What's going on with the bridge though? Never seen one where the studs have had to be adjusted that much backwards. Hell, I dunno. I don't ever recall setting the intonation. That bridge is an aftermarket because the original had the dreaded tune-o-matic sag. I didn't even know that was (#1) possible or (#2) somewhat common at the time I saw it. All I knew was that the curve did in no way match the radius of the board and the action had to be set quite a bit higher so the D and G strings didn't buzz. I've since read that it does happen. The "new one" (installed in 1998) is a cheapie aftermarket TOM. I would like to someday at least replace it with a new original Gibson part.... wonder who makes them now? Can't possibly be US...right? It's a sandwich body Norlin but as stated, I've owned a bunch. They're gone, this one is still here.
