In my experience, this dater is almost useless for vintage acoustic guitars with FON's rather than serial numbers. It correctiy identifies my 1947 L-7, which has a serial number on a label, but has no provision to input FON's ink-stamped on the neck block. My 1948-1950 J-45, for example, comes back as made in 1917. Good luck on that. In most cases, I find it more misleading than informative. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

If someone makes a fake, and uses the correct serial number scheme then this site says that the guitar is legit. personally, i wish this sight would go away as it seems to cause more trouble than helps.
