BigKahune Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 . According to Gibson's webpage on serials, that serial number is not for a Slash LP which is a CS Signature Model: Slash Les Paul (2 models) - 1997 limited edition model, cranberry finish: numbered in sequence as "SL xxx" - Regular production model introduced in 2004, also numbered in sequence as "SL xxx" Note: The discontinued Epiphone Slash Les Paul made has a standard Epiphone serial number. .
Gadge001 Posted September 23, 2012 Author Posted September 23, 2012 Hi All, Am looking to purchase a used Slash Les Paul, Serial No 003980383, can anyone confirm its originality Gadge Aberdeen, Scotland Hi All, Went along to check the guitar out, had my doubts, the Serial no I believe should have SL in front of the number, it did not, also the back and neck of the guitar was laquered in a dark brown hence you could not see the neck detail to see if it was in one piece. Again i think this should have been in a clear coat Although other pointers had me thinking it was genuine, it had the look of something that may have been replicate or repaired at some point. I decided not to go any further and passed on the purchase Thanks for all your comments Gadge
