Super300
I recently acquired a 1962/63 Gibson ga300rvt and I was wondering if anyone could tell me who the manufacturer of the speakers was? All that is marked on the speaker is: AD 5200 M, 13-62 AH, Made in Holland. The two 12" speakers are wired in parallel and are 4 ohm Z. Everything about the amp appears to be original except for a cap job. There doesn't seem to be much info on vintage Gibson amps. Could anyone point me towards any web sites that could educate me on vintage Gibson/Epiphone amplifiers.
BobB
The majority of Gibson amps from the early 1960's had either Jensen or CTS speakers installed at the factory. One reference about replacement speakers for the GA-300 RVT says the recommended replacement speaker would be "N. A. Phillips" brand.
jim chapman
I know some years have passed since the last post on this thread, but for the record what the writer had was 2 Dutch-made Phillips speakers as used in most high-end Gibson guitar amps of the day. AD5200M is a Phillips code.
