Brown Rug
I've heard they're 'rounded' but i can't tell if that means they're '50 style or '60? If they're '50, how significant is the girth compared to the '60?
Silverbursted
I don't think there is a huge difference. It's not like an Ibanez neck. To me the 50s neck is very comfortable to play, but if you are trying decide which one you would like, you just have to sit down with one of each to get the feel. Col F
I find the difference between the "rounded" 50's neck and the slim 60's neck to be very perceptible. Try them both. Try the new asymetric neck and really feel what "different" is (I don't care for it at all)... If you like Fender necks (and most other electric necks) you might also prefer the 60's profile. If you enjoy a thick neck, the 50's neck might suit you best... Try them ....
cajunman831
I have the Les Paul std.50s neck and I ,m very comfortable with it.It has the rounded neck profile. My custom has which seems to me the same neck as my std.I could be wrong.I,m used to playing Fender strats with jumbo frets.I,m trying to get used to my smaller Gibson necks. lucy-guitar
I have all kinds of neck profiles on my six Lesters and SGs. And believe me: It's always the neck I am playing on that I believe to be the best. I absolutely love my R9 neck (rounded 50s) and at the same time I adore the slim neck on my SG. The only remarkable thing is that my hands seem to get tired faster on the slim neck although playing seems easier on it. What's more important is the texture of the neck: a sanded down 50s neck is faster than a sticky glossy 60s neck. In the end it's all a matter of personal taste, habits, preferences and experience - and of course depending on the decreasing moon, the rising tide and the estrogen level of your wife...
