old mark Posted September 26, 2012 Share Posted September 26, 2012 I have a walnut finish-glossy, not a faded, from 1999 and I have just seen pics of another one from 2000. I wonder how common the walnut finish was in those days...seems like there are not many around. FWIW, both of them look like one piece bodies, and both have uncovered humbuckers. Is there somewhere I could find how many walnut finish SG Specials were made over that period? FWIW, mine is a very fine guitar and I really love it. Any help? Thanks! ADDED : Never mind. I emailed Gibson, and I was told my guitar was NOT walnut, but Ebony Stain, and that a few of those were made per year from 1998 through 2000. Mine was made in early-mid 1999, but there are no actual numbers of how many were made....still looks a little walnutty to me, but I can see it now...I like it a lot. mark Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
