sandpiper Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 I have a Southern Jumbo and am on the search for a great pickup. I have used the LR Baggs M1 and the Sunrise. I want one that is internal so I can cover the sound hole in larger venues. I also strum most of the time if that helps. Any recommendations?
Guest Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 The LR Baggs has a good reputation among many players. I've never used one, so I cannot attest t that. My SJs have Fishman Natural Matrix II pickups in them, and they work very well. These are UST type pickups, active, with a battery mounted on the neck block. Fred
jchabalk Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 k&k mini western? check those out too. I don't have one but it's at the top of my list when the time comes.
Jinder Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 K&K is the clear choice for me. The Fishmans and Baggs are great, but the K&K is just so natural sounding and non-invasive in terms of installation. They sound like your guitar, too. Very transparent.
ballcorner Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 I use Schatten pickups in my instruments. Non-invasive, and sound exactly like your guitar. Schatten Design Read around on the site.
modoc_333 Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 does anyone know the exact model they put in the MC series SJ? i'm pretty sure it's an LR Baggs, but i don't know which one.
zeebee Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Installed a K & K this past week. Took a couple of hours but it was 1st time so I did a couple of "dry runs". Followed instructions closely. Sounds great. I will definitely add to my other geet. I had forgoten to pick up a 9volt for the preamp but the thing sounded amazingly good without it.
