BarneyG
The saddle screws on my 1963 Hummingbird are tarnished big time. Anyone know where replacements can be had? I tried Gibson, StewMac and the nearest Gibson authorized service center with zero luck.
j45nick
If they are only tarnished, you can clean them up with a proprietary metal polish like Flitz, which is what I use for stuff like this. A bit of Flitz on an old toothbrush, followed by detailing with a bit on a small piece of rag, will usually remove even heavy oxidation. If you have one, you can then buff out on a polishing wheel, but you need to be a bit careful. Those screws are not off-the-shelf items, as they were purpose-made. jedzep
Right, Nick. I've seen the screws pop up occasionally on parts guys Ebay listings, in fact I bought a nice pair for my B25 a while back, but if you have a set that only needs cleaning consider yourself lucky.
