Dallastx Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 Just wondering what are your settings for Classic rock. Both Clean and drive channels? Still trying to dial in the tone from my SG. D
Hammnizzle Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 Just wondering what are your settings for Classic rock. Both Clean and drive channels? Still trying to dial in the tone from my SG. D I've got a Hot Rod DeVille. The cleans are easy (I'm at work right now, but can post settings later tomorrow). The drive channel...skip it. It sucks and you will never get it to sound the way you want. Just throw a pedal on the clean channel.

Trying to sell a 4x10 Deville now on CL....same reason, lousy drive channel (but clean is great).
kidblast Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 Strange thing about the Deville's drive channel, if your just playing alone, it doesn't have the most pleasing of tones. however toss a bass player and drummer into the room, and the tone just seems to "cut" thru the haze.

My name is Bluezguy and I approve this message The weird thing about my 4x10 DeVille is that it sounds phenomenal with my SG Standard with 57 Classics and my Firebird V with SD Antiquity 2z. With the LP Standard and ES-335 - not so good. I have nothing but good stuff to say about the HR DeVille when it's 'teamed up' with the right instruments - both channels are exceptional. Maybe tubes are something as well as proper biasing that needs to be messed with for those folks who are having difficulty enjoying the amp. To the man selling his on CL .. how much and what city so I can look at it. I would like another one.
Cooperstowncook Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 I actually had a Hot Rod Deluxe for a few years. The clean channel sounded amazing with the SG. One of the better clean channels I've heard through it. However, I couldn't get the gain channel to cooperate with me. I never found a good sound from the drive channel so I sold it. Sorry I couldn't help with your settings question, but figured I'd let you know what I experienced with that amp. Good luck man.

A couple of you guys said the SG sounds good thru the Deville. Yep...and my skeptical son agrees! Thanks for the tip!
