I am dying to hear from someone who has had their hands on the newest Les Paul Traditional Pro II. Anyone here have one yet? I have not seen one up close yet but I do like the Trad Pro that it is replacing. I have a few concerns about the durability of the new push/push knobs but they do seem like they would aid in seamless tone shifting. Also wondering how the new Super 57 bridge compares to the Burstbucker it replaces. I would like to see it offered with a plus top. It seems a shame that you can get a Trad plus or a Trad Pro but no Trad Pro Plus. Regardless, I am very intrigued by the Trad Pro II.

I did see a video on G.C. site but dont know if it is the one you are referring to. It was a Guitar Center promo video. Is there a real user video out there?

Yeah.. thats the only vid out there at the moment..

And not seen any reports from real users yet. We probably wont even see them in the UK for a few months yet.

This one has me intrigued.

Because the split coils supposedly split the humbuckers into true single coils.

The previous model were still noise canceling.

Then the 10db boost feature has me a little skepticle, I've played a HB strat with 25 db boost

and was muddy.

But I wonder how it sounds with the single coil mode and boost.

;-)

Ps I may just wait for this one with a 50s neck. Hmmmm

just got this Trad Pro II H Cherry Sunburst, 50's neck w super '57 pickups 2 days ago. Push push on the volume knobs to select single coil or both. push one of the tone knob to get a perfect 10db boost for lead- not muddy, just perfect clean or overdriven..and the tone..is unbelievable..

This Trad ProII sounds and looks great at a nice price. I will say however that this is one of the worst reviews ever. They keep changing settings but don't tell you what setting they are using. Not very informative at all. I like the '57 pups (they are on my Midtown Standard) but would be much nicer with covers. Just my taste.

I would love to try one out.

One of my faveorite settings on my 2012 Standard is the middle position with both pups in "single coil" mode. Kickin' in the out of phase switch at that point gives me a way cool unique tone. I would love to hear the single coil sound on the Trad Pro II. It must be more "Fenderish" since it is true single coil vs the Fat Tap on the Standard.

I am sure there are more informative demos in the works.

I was kind of thinking the same things about that demo. Whats with the guy reaching in and messing with the knobs while other guy is trying it out ? That is like reaching at my plate when Im eating, you might get a fork stuck in your hand. Still, I am very interested in this guitar. Guitar center and Musicians friend seem to be the only places to get them. The more I know GC the less I like them.

I don't want to hijack this thread. I am interested in the Trad Pro II as well but...

I am not a big fan of GC and the key to having a good experience with them is to hook up with a good salesperson. Unfortunately that is not always possible at every store in every department. I have purchased stuff at their Manchester location in CT. Robert Morales is the guy I like dealing with. I was looking for an inexpensive 335 type guitar and he let me set up in the loud room where all the expensive gear is and not on the showroom floor. He brought to me guitars he thought I would like and gave me as much time to check them out without bugging me and kept bringing more stuff based on the feedback I gave him. I wound up over a six month time buying three guitars from this guy. He is a top notch salesperson that makes the experience totally enjoyable. I can't say that for some of the other guys in other departments.

One time I was in the pro audio department looking for an inexpensive speaker cable, this was in their Orange CT location, all the guy would show me were way expensive Monster type cables. I wanted something inexpensive since I would not be using it all that often. He told me thats all they had. When I went to look on the wall myself I found exactly what I was looking for. I asked him why he did not show me this model. All he could say is that it was junk and would not recommend it. This was about 5 or more years ago and the cable still works as well as the day I bought it.

Sorry for going on such a tangent.

I am way interested in seeing other demos on the Trad pro II. I may have to go visit my friend at the Manchester location and check it out myself. If I do I'll report back with my review.

Now back to your regularly scheduled broadcast.
