GibSinCity Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 "Half SG, half Flying V, the Zakk Wylde ZV is every bit as mean as it looks! As legend has it the ZV was conceived on a bar napkin. Soon after the Zakk Wylde ZV was born. The mahogany body is wrapped an ebony and orange "Buzzsaw" pattern. The maple neck is topped with an ebony fingerboard and a Les Paul Custom headstock. EMG pickups are onboard for searing tone and black hardware rounds out the features. Only 75 Zakk Wylde ZVs will be available in the US!" "The Zakk Wylde ZV Electric Guitar from the Gibson Custom shop grafts together two of the most rebellious looks in guitar history, Gibson's own Flying V and SG, and equips the new creation with all the tools required to crank out the most dangerous contemporary rock. The Zakk Wylde ZV has a solid mahogany body for enhanced sustain and resonance, and active EMG81 and EMG85 humbucking pickups provide optimum power and clarity. A maple neck and ebony fingerboard, profiled and finished in plain oil to Zakk's own specifications, yield to speedy riffs while enhancing tonal definition. Topped with a black and white bull's-eye graphic, this Gibson guitar will not be ignored"
Cú Chulainn Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 they should've gone with the V headstock instead of an LP one
pippy Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 they should've gone with the V headstock instead of an LP one They should have had their Corporate head examined. "As legend has it the ZV was conceived on a bar napkin.".......after how many gallons of beer had been drunk? Hideous on so many levels it should almost look cool. But it doesn't. P.

I guess they were afraid to loose Zakk since Gibson abandoned the design yyyyeeeeeaaars ago, Dean took it, made a pointier prototype(or the Razorback filter) and presented a guitar to Zakk, which he played atleast once. then Gibson most likely said to Zakk that "hey, we'll build you the same guitar" and gave him some extra dough and voila¨... the ZV
Ronbo256 Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Still looking Good Luck finding one. Less beveling, even the horn tips so they are the same length (the bottom horn is the right length in my opinion), an explorer or V headstock, and put a paint job that doesn't hurt my eyes on it an it might have been something. With Gibson's talent for being 20 years ahead in guitar designs, this should prove popular in the late 2020's! LOL
JPD Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 These were a very limited edition of just 100. The first 20 or 25 (there's conflicting information out there on this) are personally signed by Zakk himself. He owns serial numbers 001 and 002. I happen to have one with a serial number < 010, but you'd have to give me bucket-loads of money to get it off me. ;-) Including a picture of my baby.
