Ruud2904
Semi hollow SGs are rare to my knowledge. I have never seen one in life. But in another forum the possibility was provided to build your one dream SG. So I did and the good news is that it didn't break the bank. This one is in exotic wood, ebony fretboard with block inlays. The two soundholes look very good on a SG if they have this shape. No pickguard. Just a single P90 in the neck, a tune o matic bridge and a vibrola added. I think it is splendid looking. The only two things wrong with it is the toggle that I couldn't get rid of in the software and the other thing is that I do not own this. But boy, would I love to see and play one like this. So, Gibson, why not building this baby?
EVOL!
So, Gibson, why not building this baby? Because SG means solid guitar. You start putting holes in and it is no longer an SG. They can build it; they just better not call it an SG. It's like calling a panini a torta. They ain't the same thing.

Ryan H
To the OP, and anybody else interested, the tool that the OP's is Based on can be found here: http://www.yajimastringworks.com/tct/yswtct-kisekae-e.asp Just click on any of the models and click "Guest" or whatever it is. You can change practically everything on the guitar: wood, finishes, hardware, pickup shape/color, knobs e.c.t. You can get some pretty crazy stuff. Then just take a screenshot (on Windows that would be the PrntScrn button) and crop it in Paint or something similar, and you have your guitar. -Ryan
stein
I think the main issue would be neck dive. SG's already have issues, and it is already a very light guitar. So, not only is there no concerns with weight as to indicate a "hollow" version, but the lighter wieght would make the neck dive worse (that most want to cure). But, if the neck dive issue was able to be addressed, I think because a hollow SG is so rediculous a concept, that is what would make it extra cool. SGgypsyboy
Ted McCarty is spinning in his grave at the mere mention of turning his SG creation into a semi-hollow.
Vega1
Too thin!! exactly, you'd have to change the shape to even be able to do it.

Pin
That design would probably be possible as a neck through design with routed out chambers. A possibility anyway.
SGgypsyboy
Ahh haa! Apparently Gibson made 1 and only 1 semi hollow SG, with no F holes - My link

Not sure about that "only one that will ever be built" stuff. What if 20,000 guitarists wrote to Gibson saying they want one. Well, I can but wish... I also guess if one has a fat enough bank account the Gibson Custom Shop might be persuaded to do a special order.
btoth76
Hello! Gibson Barney Kessel Custom looks just like a semi-hollow SG. Thicker, tough. Cheers... Bence
