Dub-T-123
And they seriously blew my mind. I didn't take any pictures or anything because I was just rocking out. It was really the most amazing, inspirational performance I've ever seen. I dunno, I just got lost in it. It was unbelievable. If you get the chance to see them DO IT. I don't think I'll ever be quite the same after that. I need to work on my music..
Thundergod
Great sounding band... duo? :) I found them just recently after a pupil of mine asked me what they were playing on a song (it was mostly blues scale)... I just loved the way they play and how simple, yet amazingly complete, their music is.
Jeff-7
They used to be duo only until recent recordings, they've added a couple more players for touring now. Check out the thickfreakness album, my favorite from them. Killer band.
Riffster
Yea, to me Thickfreakness is their most solid album while still playing blues and as a duo. Not to say that albums after that aren't great but Thickfreakness is perfect. They live here in Nashville now.
Dub-T-123
When they played Thickfreakness last night.. I lost my mind. It was so great. I was really happy that they still broke down to a two piece and played some of their old material but I love everything they've come out with so I was stoked for it all. The dynamics and improvisation of their live show is what's really amazing. Also Dan's picking technique is pretty interesting and his tone is just ridiculously awesome. No doubt the sweetest tone I've ever heard. I could hardly believe it, it was 100x better than I could have expected

Izzy
Had never heard of them, am now rocking out to one of their songs...something about Gold on the Ceiling. Reminds me of the old White Stripes set up...but the druming isn't aboriginal. Thanks for the introduction.
Jon S.
Love me some Black Keys. I've seen them a couple of times in town, and they will indeed blow you mind!!!(and leave your ears ringing for a day or two). Thickfreakness used to be the song they'd open with. Not sure what they are doing now that they've added a couple folks in the band though.
EVOL!
Not too much a fan of their songs, but their sound and attitude are ace. Very filling for a two piece and adding additional members just makes it that much better. When I dig on a band's sound and attitude, it makes me hungry to see and hear a live set and take in the musical inspiration they generate. Bet your head and ears were buzzing with sonic assault afterglow after the show. Yeah, I am jealous.
ShredAstaire
How did all of you people NOT know of the Black Keys until now? They've been around for YEARS and have many albums out. They've even been famous for like 5 years...

I remember you saying something like what bothers you is their songs mainly just being verses and choruses with no bridge. I can totally understand that.. The bridge is the hardest part to write (for me at least) but when it's good it's usually the best part of the song, so to not have a bridge can come across as kindof lacking songwriting skills Anyways what I'm getting at is that when you see them live, they have such great dynamic changes and extended parts/solos that you'd probably forget all about that.
