70s Fender PA 100

years ago I acquired a Fender PA 100, complete with a pair of tower speakers. I took the towers apart the other day and noticed that they are blue back fenders and all match, so I am going to assume that they are original. They work perfectly, but I've moved these speakers one too many times and with me getting more equipment into the office for my video business... I just don't want to move them anymore.

My question is:

Should I sell the speakers as a pair or do I rip the speakers out and toss the cabinets away??? What would be a fair price?

It REALLY depends on the speakers. Not just what they might be worth or what brand, but the size.

Certain Fender speakers are valueable and useful because they can be used as replacements, which makes them more useful at times than the cab. But the cab has value as well.

If you can post pics, I could maybe identify them. There is likely a code on them that will tell what they are, but not always. If you could find the codes, or read the numbers if you can see them, might not need pics.

Thanks for the reply. They are 8" Fender Special Design. I will have to see if I have a picture to post... I don't know if the style is Utah???

I don't think there is much of a market for 8" high powered Fender speakers. I can't think of an amp that would use them.

Basically, I don't see them being worth more as replacements than they are worth in the cab, so I wouldn't ditch the cab.

Don't take this as fact, but I believe UTAH became Eminence.

I don't think it is uncommon to find Eminence or Utah speakers without printed codes you can see on them.

Thanks for all your input people!!! I ended up selling them $75 for the pair... whether that was a good decision or not, I'm not sure BUT I freed up space in my work station and can now reorganize some more. As many musicians know, you always want to get what you can out of your investment... but sometimes you have to bite it and take a chance, which I recently did.

I still have the PA100 head though, which I may convert into a Twin Reverb but... you all know how that goes...

I still have the head. I thought about selling it BUT I would really like to convert it to a Twin Reverb. I just need to find a cab and chassis for the right price. I have found some online, but... after buying the cab and chassis I would be spending just as much as if I were to buy a Twin.

Recently it started to make some strange noises and began to cut out. After inspecting it, I discovered that an ax7 or at7 tube had shattered. Not sure why... This ever happen to you with any tube amp?
