Custom Admin
http://forums.gibson.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=274 on 8-digit numbers, 1 and 5 are the year of production, 2-4 are the day of the year, 6-8 are the rank of the instrument in that day's production. TheLiveSoundGuy
http://forums.gibson.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=274 on 8-digit numbers' date=' 1 and 5 are the year of production, 2-4 are the day of the year, 6-8 are the rank of the instrument in that day's production.[/quote'] What exactly do you mean by "Rank" of the instrument, in that day's production? As example: 91418009 Would that be a 1998 model made on the 141st day of the year, and the 009th instrument made on that day? Thanks

Thanks[/quote'] Hey TheLiveSoundGuy-- Yes, you are correct in your example; "rank" of an instrument in that day's production means whether it was made first, second, third, or whatever number, on that day. This reminds me that I want to check out (via serial number) how long some of the new guitars have been hanging around in my local shops.
