skippy72
Hello, I have my non-reverse Firebird 2011 for 6 months now. And I LOVE that guitar. I'm happy with everything, the neck fits perfectly my hand, sounds are great! The only bad thing is the NOISY P90s. So I know that single-coils make noise, yes, but I've already got guitars equipped with P90 and never so noisy. On this picture of a Firebird I Non-R 1967, there is a kind of shell (copper?) around the electronic. Nothing like this on the 2011 Firebird, it's direct on wood. I'm thinking about doing some shield with metal tape but I don't like to remove all the electronic. Any ideas or suggestions ? Thanks

Thanks I have one as well and it is noisy, shielding the cavity would most likely help the issue though I have not explored it yet.

Yes, shielding will help! The controls are easily removed while still soldered together. Then you can use either a shielding kit (with metal foil) or shilding paint! You get those in many guitar centers or online from guitar part dealers. No big deal, easily done, less noise!

Eades
Both my n/r firebird studios are noisy as hell i have both colours from different shops bought at different times so i just put it down to the p90s being poorly made/designed, turn your gain down and stand as far away from ur amp as poss it doesnt cure it but it helps.
