Need help identifying.

I recently was at the local pawn shop paying on my guitar and saw a Les Paul on the guitar rack. The color is what caught my eye. It is the purple burst finish. I played it and it felt nice and sounded great so I got it. By looking at it, it seems to be an original. It has the 50's style thicker neck.all the attributes that a Gibson has. It does have a bolt on neck and I know that from 84-86, Gibson made LPs with a bolt on neck. I had to look for the purlpe burst finish as I had never seen one with that finish. I finally found one on Musicians Friend and it said they were discontinued. H have little doubt that iti is a fake, but it is a really good one if it is. not only does it have the bolt on neck, it has no serial number. There are other signs it is a fake even though it says Gibson on it. What I am wanting to know is there any way of finding out where it came from? Any help would be greatly appreiciated.

Need more pics. From that one shot, both the logo and the Les Paul decal could have been stuck on anything.

Gibson DID make several bolt on neck models from the mid 70s to the late 80s(?) but to my knowledge NONE of them said "Les Paul" on them, nor were they considered part of the Les Paul family other than having been made by Gibson.

Post some more pics and we'll get you on the path to righteousness.

I kinda figured it was. Anyway to find out where it came from? i only gave 350 after taxes and all and came with an Epiphone hardshell case. the case on Musicians Friend is 100 so I think it was a good deal. Like I stated, it plays and sounds great. nothing else it will be something to make my friends jealous, lol.

I had never seen one but if you Google images of Les Paul purple burst, you get several pics of them. most only had one tone and one volume control but there is a pit that has all four knobs. Was wondering if they still made them or what it would take to get one. Probably have to order through the custom shop now. the pics really don't do it justice either. I can't get it just right. Either to dark or to light, which changes the color of it.

Yes, it is the Goddess. i don't care much for them. I like the traditional Les Paul look with the four knobs. Yes, I am sure that they would make one for. Years ago i wanted the Jimmy Page signature LP. But I thought $5,000 was a bit much. now I see the price of them and should have gotten it then, lol. CCan you tell me what makes you say that my LP is a fake? What do I looke for to tell the fake ones? There are vids on you tube from people that have ordered the chineese LPs and it says Gibson LP on them and stamped made in america on the back of the headstock. One guy said he ordered one from the US and then wasnted another so he bought a chineese one and it was just like his, even had the same serial number on it. Guess I am really gonna have to look from now on.
