StevePRobinson Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 Item number: 190269165056 Seller says it is a 1989 Les Paul reissue but it has a Nashville bridge and thick binding in the cutaway. It does however have an inked serial number. I can't think of any models with this combination of features - any ideas? Steve.
lucy-guitar Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 Doesn't look like a faked RI to me. Pre-Reissues didn't come with small cutaway binding and bridges can easily be changed. What's convincing: This Lester has been played a lot - and you wouuldn't do if the axe was lame. So as long as bids won't exceed GBP 1.300,00 I'd say it's a good deal. Ask for the e-mail conversation with Gibson's Customer Center.
Thermionik Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 . . Wow - wish I had the dosh, one awesome mojo guitar. Seems to have everything going for it..... .
solacematt Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 According to the Guitar Dater Project Guitar Info Serial number unrecognized Your guitar may have been made prior to 1977, in that case you may need to use the Vintage Panel, simply select all the options that best describe your guitar. http://www.guitardaterproject.org/gibson.aspx
Thermionik Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 Yeah - but if you fill in the details:- Electric Solid Body Ink Stamped on back of headstock It says: Your guitar was made at the Kalamazoo Plant, USA approximately in: 1959 As our American brothers (and sisters) say..... go figure
lucy-guitar Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 Guitar Dater Project is not the weapon of choice for Historic Reissues. Better submit photos and description to Gibson Customer Service if you are in doubt
