j45nick
While we're on the subject of authenticity vs. created by the PR machine, have a look at these folks: I especially recommend the "You Ain't Alone" video, which raises the ghosts of Otis and Janis. This girl can sing, and she plays an SG to boot.

ParlourMan
That's a throaty pair of lungs alright.... Love the comment saying she looks like a substitute teacher, haha. I've no criticism to add to that as I couldn't see the footwear. :D

vincentw
female power vocals are making a return. You don't have to look like a supermodel.
j45nick
female power vocals are making a return. You don't have to look like a supermodel. They didn't call Willie Mae Thornton "Big Mama" for nuthin'. Aretha ain't exactly skinny as a rail, either. On the other hand, there was Pearl (JJ), who was a small girl who produced a mighty sound. I remember sitting about 20 feet away from her at a concert thinking the noise coming out of her mouth was loud enough to blow my clothes off. (Of course, I might have been stoned out of my mind at the time, which may have added to the effect)
Jon S.
I saw them a few weeks ago at the Americana Awards with Booker T on keys. They were great. At the end of the show they paid tribute to Levon singing The Weight, and she shared a mic with Emmylou. Good music is alive and well!!!
