Iv been playing for about a year now. I own a ict700. I want to get a sg standard but I don't want to get one just to have the new robot come out a week later. Has anyone Hurd anything abought a new 4th gen sg? Pluse I want to find one that has 490 498 split coil. That would be amazing. Can u convert a stock one to split coil with out buying new pick ups? Thank you for your help and info.

The robot features will likely be a separate SG Standard model, like they did with the LP Studio. You could get a LP Studio that had the robot feature, and you could get a LP Studio without the robot feature. I don't think Gibson would mess with the SG Standard by including the robot feature on every model, IMHO. It's too popular of a guitar, and the SG is their best selling model historically speaking.

This is, of course, all an opinion. I don't know that they'll do this for a fact.

I figured that it would be a limited edition like thay did for the robot one. I seen the les Paul one that was out a bit ago but I Reilly wanted a sg one. Iv been watching a lot of reviews and from what Iv been hearing I like the sg sound better. I'm still a noob but I like playing in lots of tuneings. M big in to system of a down and rammstien, but I still want to be able to play love shack and other songs like that. Auto tuneing would be amazing.

I've tried this coil tapping malarkey, and the differences are VERY subtle

and hardly worth the soapy bubble to be honest.

I just can't agree with what you say. For example, the factory coil tap on my Les Paul 25 / 50 changes the sound considerably. Much sharper sound when the coil tap switch is on. There is nothing subtle about it.

And although it is entirely a different mechanism, the varitone on an ES345 / 355 also changes the sound markedly between options 1 to 6.

My conclusion is that either via coil tap or through a type of resistance gate like a varitone, the options for distinct tone changes are real and, in my opinion, well worth having.
