Which Les Paul Should I purchase?

Next week I'm going to buy me a new Gibson Les Paul. I was wondering which

one I should buy? I really like the new Traditional, and perhaps the new 2008

standard? The Traditional Paul doesn't have chambers like the older ones!!!

The new Standard has some nice new upgrades, but I'm leaning towards the

Traditional Les Paul, what do you think? Which pups are better, the Burst Buckers

or the 57 Classics?

Some people dont like the new standard because of the "upgrades" ... but I think they are fine and should be an option in most over 1000 guitars. You cant go wrong with either but I think the standard comes best equiped and ready to be used, with the traditional you have to ad straplocks which can give you problems because of the size of the screws.

Sound/tonewise... I couldnt tell, I like both, you will have to play both and see which one you think ffits your needs better.

Good luck, hope to see some pictures soon, and welcome to the forum.

I agree with Thunder. I personally prefer the "old" style standards, but the 2008s are still great guitars. Try out both and buy whichever you like more for sound, tone, weight, resonance, etc. And don't forget that individual guitars will vary as well- you can pick up any 2 Gibsons that are exactly the same model, finish, etc and one will still seem slightly better than the other to different players.

Play as many as you can. Buy the the one that is barely within your budget and speaks to you the most (sounds and feels the best).

Hey Roop, welcome aboard. Glad to see you making the decision to buy an outstanding guitar. As you can tell by the responses, we are reluctant to give advise as to which LP sounds and feels good to you. Just about everyone new to this forum enters the same way you just did, "which one should I get?". The selection of this caliber guitar is so objective, nobody is as qualified to make that decision as you are. Now if you were to ask us why we bought ours, you will probably get a more responsive answer.

I purchased my Traditional the first week it and the New Standard came out. After playing both, I felt the tone and balance of the Traditional blew away the New Standard, and I played them back to back on the same amp with the same settings. Personally I liked the 57s better than the BBs. Plus I like the beefier feeling of the weight relieved vs. chambered.

Obviously this description won't help your decision, you just have to go and play them both. I'm sure you will find the one that screams "take me home".

Good luck and don't forget we require pictures.
