zombywoof
Last I heard the book and CD were supposed to be out late November or early December. It looks like the project got pushed back a tad or maybe NAMM is just a good showcase for the unveiling. Really looking forward to it as I assume all of us who own Banner Head guitars are. GotTheSilver
Thanks for the update. What do you know of the limited run of replicas of four banner head guitars? I didn't see anything about it on the website, but I am surfing on my iPhone so I might have missed it.
BigKahune
. From JT's Kickstarter email - "... At the big NAMM trade show in Los Angeles, a certain manufacturer will be holding a press conference to unveil a limited run of replicas of guitars used on the recordings [the Banner Gibsons CD]. These are to be precise reproductions (fingers crossed!) of 4 of the CD's guitars. Stay tuned for details. ... " That's all I know at this point. I was wondering if someone from here got their guitar measured. I'm wondering if Rar's is going to be replicated - JT was certainly very impressed with it - check it on this thread - World's best J-45 . . . Owned by our own RAR. . John told me last night that two guitars are his, and that the others are from other folks. Bob's (Rar) guitar is not one of the "templates", as I understand it. I hear that one is a maple-bodied guitar, a J-45 I think. One is based on John's oh-so-nice SJ. Hubba hubba! Fred
rar
Bob's (Rar) guitar is not one of the "templates", as I understand it. They have "blueprints" for mine that Ren drew up a few years ago if they care to use them. But the resulting guitar shouldn't be much different from a J-45 Legend, so there's really no point. My Legend in particular is the Joseph Gordon-Levitt to my old J-45's Bruce Willis. -- Bob R

Fred Which SJ? the really clean 'hog one, or the rosewood one? Have to admit I might be tempted by 910 FON one, as I don't have a single rosewood Gibson, and I prefer short-scale guitars. jt
Folks, My ears were burning! I'm humbled and honored by the interest. The book should be out by December. I've now responded to edits of 5 of 7 chapters and of all 3 appendices. The end is near! I also recently built a new website for the book: Kalamazoo Gals. In addition, I'm in the process of putting together a book tour that is now scheduled for museums and major guitar shops across the country and will include a few European stops. As for the reissues, as some folks know, I've now played and examined (and X-rayed) more Banner Gibsons than just about anyone other than those who made them. For the reissues I've chosen examples of specific batches that have features not before reissued. I'll be able to go public with details soon. Speaking of X-rays, my X-ray art show is currently being exhibited on the east coast and in January will tour through 2016 with the National Guitar Museum. Here is the website; Vintage Steel. Thanks again for the interest. And, again, I'm honored and humbled.

zombywoof
All I can say is that have never had a subscription to a guitar related magazine and have never purchased a book about guitars in my life. But this one - well there is a first time for evertything.
jt
You are all far too kind! Thanks for the encouragement. This has been an incredible 5 year labor of love. I'm heading back into the studio in a couple of hours to complete the recording sessions for the companion CD. Here's a pic from yesterday's all-day session of Lauren Sheehan playing a wonderful 1943 SJ:
