Homz Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 A shameless plug for "The Fretboard Journal". A quarterly magazine (more like a book) with some really great articles on all things guitar and musician. The current issue has many great articles, for example on jazz musicians, rock stars, and blues men. The interviews focus on their instruments and playing styles. And the reason for this shameless plug is an article on Brazilian Rosewood and the luthiers who use it. And the article following it that was all about the Endangered Species Act and specifically the treaty that oversees the import of banned items like ivory, Brazilian rosewood, tortis shell etc.. Anyone who transports their guitar across international borders should read this article. As you know (even many electrics) all the major manufactures has at one time or another used Brazilian rosewood. In many cases it's not even that noticeable (to the untrained eye) like as a fret board or tuning knobs. Long story made short; they will take your guitar at the border and you wont get it back. Unless you get an export permit. Even if your just going on vacation and want to have it with you.
