My son has a Maestro (Gibson subsidiary) acoustic guitar and the strings need to be replaced. What can you recommend for a replacement string? Thank you.

I would recommend Elixir light gauge strings. I prefer the Elixir Phospher Bronze Nano's but he may like the Elixir 80/20 nano's better. I recommend them for several reasons... they sound excellent and they last a very long time. Also, they are a coated string which may very well be eaiser on his fingers than uncoated strings. While they are more expensive than uncoated strings, the extra life (double or more I find) makes them cheaper in the end. I even use Elixir electric strings on my Strat because they just sound sooooo good.

On acoustic I go with Taylor Player's recommendation. I have em on mine. Love em.

And after reading his musical history story on the "Musical Heritage" thread I just can't bring my self to disagree with him.
