Hurricane Sandy

Living in coastal Florida, I've been through dozens of them. We got off lightly this time, 40-50mph winds and lots of rain. Good luck to you.

As a veteran:

  • If your home isn't well built and on high ground, seek shelter -- and if you stay at home keep reading...
  • Store lots of drinking water - the power may go out and the city water supply may get disrupted
  • Make sure you have flashlights, batteries and candles
  • Store lots of food that doesn't need refrigeration
  • Fill your car's gas tank before it arrives, if power goes out, it may take days for the gas stations to start working again
  • Board up windows and if they are not, locate yourself where you can't be hit by flying glass if a tree limb or other flying debris should hit a window

All in all, Hurricanes are a major PITA and can be worse. But I'd rather be in a hurricane than a tornado, tsunami, earthquake, avalanche or in a major river flood.

And again, good luck.

I have an idea, take the Marshall stacks outside and aim them at the storm, dime the amps and play some heavy riffing to see if you can divert that storm.

The alternative is simply to take cover....probably the more sensible idea really.

And play "Rock You (Like A Hurricane)"!

Just outside Atlantic City here, 10:30 Sunday night. Wind getting heavy, some rain. Everything is closed. Amps up from floor, all guitars up here in the house. Beer, coffee, food, we are good.

A song called 4th Of July by Bruce, an old one, has been in my head all weekend.

Passed by NC over two or three days now, here in the Piedmont area of the state it's just been over-cast, getting some rain tonight but thats about it besides some wind. She's to far off the coast to do much around my house but the Outer-Banks have been getting some heavy stuff.
