Estelle
Hi everyone! I,m the proud owner of a beautiful 2010 2008 Les paul std, bought new .I,m just now starting to use it.My amps are Vox Ac30 and Fender HR Deluxe and Super sonic.I,m looking for a blues sound.Does anyone use either of these amps or is a Marshall a must.I do find that my tone is a bit dark with the Vox.Not crazy about the sound from the Fenders.I love this guitar it seems to have taken a breaking in period for it to stabilize and stay in tune.I dont play metal but just enough dirty for blues.Thank you for any advice.I know i,ve come to the gright place for this. Ps how about country with a 2008 thks

stein
A typical Marshall is going to sound a lot different than what you have...it's meant that way. IF that is the sound you are looking for, a Marshall or a Marshall type might be the ticket. To me, unless you are going to play REALLY loud, (or get into attenuaters and such), I think it's real hard to have a Marshall sound like a TRUE Marshall at lower volumes. With a Marshall, LOWER volume means Bar/club/drummer not mic'ed volume. A lot of old tweed Fender amps have a lot of Marshall-like qualities. A tweed Bassman, for example, is what a Marshall is based on origonally, and they do have that roar and growl of a Marshall. A lot of the smaller Tweed ones sound very similar in a lot of ways. I think, for the most part, the amps you have are just as suitable, compatable, with an LP as any guitar. With those amps, I would plug in an LP just as quickly as a Strat, and expect the amps to be as good with either...different, but as good. The other thing, maybe the main thing: (don't take this as a put down). I am not sure WHICH AC30 model you have, but the HR Deluxe, and the SS, are middle-of-the-road amps, or "cheaper" amps. They are kinda like what an Epiphone would be in the amp world. The LP you have is more of a premium instrument. If you want to match the quality of tone the LP is capable of, you might consider upgrading in the amp department as well.

Rollo Rodriguez
Hello there. I assume you're looking for a "dirtier" distortion than your current amps? There are tons of amps out there, but I can only speak of what I have actually used (owned by clubs). 1. Marshall JCM900 50W 112 combo. OK Price, lots of gain, can go dirty and bright (in a good, nasty kind of way). Very compact. I want to own one. 2. Orange Rockverb 50 combo. A bit expensive, but the sound is pleasantly nasty! A bit bulky. 3. Soldano Reverb-O-Sonic This is one nasty, nasty amp (in a rock'n'roll kind of way) Personally, I'm a VOX AC30 EL84 type of guy. I personally own a Laney VC30 112. The way to use these amps is to push them all the way up until it sounds like it's going to melt. As opposed to the amps I recommended above, it produces a loose, compressed, sustainy buttery melted tone. As for your Fender HR Deluxe, I've had experience with that also, and I think it's a fine, fine amp. It's also very loud (louder than JCM900 112 or my Laney VC30). It's a bit "tight" sounding for my preference though. How about trying out some Overdrive pedals with it? I suggest a Fulltone OCD for a start. Estelle
Thanks all for the replies.Rollo my Vox is the ccx2 with the alnico blues.I think i,ll stick with that for now.I have a Digiteck Clapton pedal and a Boss blues driver that i,m getting used to although the Lp sounds pretty good straight in the amp. Pin
Or how about a Kemper Profiling Amp? Why stick with one amp when you can have thousands?
JAC
I have a number of different amps and, recently purchased a 2010(2008 Series) Les Paul Standard. Have you tried playing it through an amp with 6V6 power tubes yet? I find mine sounds very sweet through my 78 Vibro Champ. I also feel this guitar totally "slay" all too sweetly through a Marshall DSL-15. As someone posted earlier on the video, it sounds awesome through a Marshall JTM1H. I do have one of these also and, enjoy how it sounds through it as well. I also tried a different 2010 Standard (2008 Series) through a JMP1H which sounded like both Led Zepplin and, Deep Purple tone from the early to mid 70s. I hope that helps you. I would try the DSL-15 for that blues tone you are chasing first of all!
badbluesplayer
The Hot Rod Deluxe and the Supersonic aren't really bluesy sounding amps. The HRD is a high gain version of the Blues Deluxe and the Supersonic is a high gain version of the Deluxe Reverb. Fender amps for blues include the Blues Junior and Blues Deluxe, which are modernized versions of the old style Fenders.
Gary Moore Tribute
I say get a Blackstar The Series 1 isn't something to be sniffed at... (Made by 2 Former Marshall Development members) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gROfbWUOwdw I'm getting the next month to compliment my HT-5C
JAC
Blackstar amp are awesome! I have the bottom of the line tube issue, the HT-1 combo and, this thing boogies! Plug it into any larger cabinet with an ohm rating from 4 to 16 ohms and rock on! I'm very curious about their Artisan 15. These are some high dollar amps. Every review I've read on them praises them and, many of these owners have owned many high end and, other expensive boutique amps. Even though it is a *****en' amp, I feel if I were to drop that kind of dough for an amp, I'd go with a Mojave Scorpion. That way I could safely let out the inner Rev. Willie G. out of myself, with a big grin to boot!
