Bigseal
Hi Guys, I am a new proud owner of the Gibson BB King Lucille and I am worried about which stage stand to use because of its body finish of nitrocellulose lacquer and its extra width. I have seen the Hercules GS412B and read some of the comments but I am not convinced as I don't know yet. What are my best options? And if necessary to adapt a ready stand to suit. Best wishes, Bigseal

Best wishes, Bigseal Yeah the Hercules was one of the only stands to offer Nitro friendly BUT apparently they have taken that off now, not that ive checked. So really with a Gibby its always safest to cover any rubber parts that contact the body with some sort of cotton cloth. I use old T-Shirts to cover mine :) One time for some reason I had covered the legs but forgot to cover the back rest bit on the stand (normal floor stands) and this was the result on my new LP Studio
Bigseal
Hi Rabs, I'm sorry to see that. It is bad the makers did not see that coming. The tuners on the Gibson BB KIng Lucille are thin and weak.

Best wishes, Bigseal Some guys do this kind of thing, where you wrap some cotton fabric around the stand where it touches the guitar. I used some old cotton socks on this one: This one has bleached denim on it: I have a Hercules stand and it has been fine but I don't leave the guitar hanging on it all the time. Most guys don't have any problems with the Hercules stands, but a few people have. I have a Hercules wall hanger and I put denim fabric on the parts that touch the guitar. But I've never hung a nitro guitar on there for very long, so I can't say whether that's o.k. The finish on your new guitar will take some time to harden up, and in the meantime, it will be more susceptible to discoloration and solvents. Best wishes, Bigseal Wow I bought one of these guitars new back in 2005 and was not aware until I read this thread that there was any concerns about which stand to use. Because I waited so many years to get one of these I do not take it out to gigs so it has barely spent any time at all on any stands - I keep it in the case except when I get her out to play her so thankfully I have not had any issues or problems. Thanks for the heads up on this because I wasn't aware of this issue at all. God that would piss me off if I accidentally marred up my precious Lucille.
