LP_VM55
I have always played epiphones and i finally upgraded to a Gibson LP. The guy at Guitar Center highly recommened The Les Paul Vintage Mahogany. I noticed it doesn't have a binding, a finish (it has a natural worn cherry wood finish), and it has burstbuckers. I really like the guitar, it has a really nice tone and can scream bloody murder when I add some gain and distortion. However, when people talk about the Vintage Mahogany, they usually say something along the lines of not a "real" Les Paul or is not as good as the Les Pauls that are more expensive... Did I make a bad decision in investing in this guitar?
flyingarmadillo
If you bought it as an "investment" yes. If you bought it to play then absolutely NOT! Best bang for the buck out there once you get it tweaked.
RichCI
I would describe them as being not as fancy as more expensive Les Pauls but no less of anything else than any other Les Paul. For that matter, I really like the nice clean look of the VM. IMO, more expensive Les Pauls mostly come down to aesthetics, so-called "limited" editions and artist signature models. Enjoy! maestrovert
i've got one....it's the best Gibson bang for the buck deal out there... an' it's leagues above the Epi LPs imho.... if it plays well, feels good to you and sounds good to you, then don't worry about what anyone else might say or think ! Thundergod
Congratulations on your guitar, the vintage mahogany (as noted by the others) is the best bang for the buck... it has features of higher end guitars at half the price. I have tried some and most sounded good and were very confortable to play with. Welcome to the forum

cookieman15061
Hi Guys, I went in to my local guitar store to buy a Les Paul Studio and after playing a number of them I just wasn't impressed for the money. I then decided to check out the VM. The sound blew me away and I loved the non sticky neck. I was able to find one that wasn't slobbered over by a 13 yr old Slash wannabe and brought it home with me. Great guitar at a great price.

elessar820
Prices just went up on them too, if you were lucky, you may have saved $100 if you got it before the increase. Great guitar by the way, I was looking into one myself before I got my BFG.
Les Paul Fanatic
I've got a Vintage Mahogany and quite frankly I love the guitar, can't get a better deal than that on a Gibson.
