490r 498t pickups come in studios, used to be in standards (correct me if im wrong), now theyre putting them in custom shop models. imho they are great pickup combo,

on one end you have an alnico II in the neck and an alnico V in the bridge. on my studio 50s tribute, these pickups sound great, i had played with the idea of changing out the pickups but

grew on me really fast. sad to say its officially on the chopping block, unless i save up more money for my recent purchase.

now this is the link i found this, here on gibson.com

http://www2.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/Les-Paul/Gibson-Custom/Les-Paul-Custom.aspx

i thought that was pretty cool, sometimes i know i do too, get hung up on pikup names, "bursbucker, bursbucker pro, classic 57,plus, dirty fingers" but i tested them against my friends custom 68 reissue with classic 57

and surprised with how close neck pickups sounded alike bridge 498t was a little hotter.

but great pickups imo

just thinking out loud
