MarkR1
Hello. I have some questions about this amp I just bought. I paid $350 for it. Is that a good price? From what I can tell it is a 1959 from the speaker code. Can anyone tell if it has been messed with much on the inside from the pics? What is up with the big orange canister that is hanging out on the left? It has a metal strap that is around it and appears it should be connected somewhere due to there is a hole in the strap like it should be screwed into something. Is it original or added later? It has the 2 prong plug which I will have changed out for a grounded one. I don't think the RCA tubes are original. It sounds really good and works fine. It has the back cover which I removed for pics. I would appreciate any help from someone that knows. I've hopefully uploaded pics successfully so you can see. Thanks for any help. MarkR1
I saw another pic of the insides of another one where the orange canister hanging to the left should be mounted above the other orange canister.
BobB
There appear to be some updated components. I am pretty sure the original power caps were the old paper type. No suprise those would need to be replaced on an amp that old. Over the years, the paper type have a tendancy to leak and cause a lot of unwanted noise.
