JamesMcCloud
Hey Folks, last weekend I bought a brandnew Hummingbird Custom Koa (build in July 2012) . Unbelievebale guitar, really fine (master)craftsmanship by Gibson Acoustic and by the way playability and tone are (of course) state-of-art. According to the Gibson homepage (http://www2.gibson.com/Products/Acoustic-Instruments/Square-Shoulder/Gibson-Acoustic/Hummingbird-Custom-KOA.aspx) this guitar was build (or co-build by Ren Furgeson) " Based on the design of Gibson’s renowned Hummingbird, the Hummingbird Custom Koa combines the fundamental features of the original with the fine work of Gibson master luthier Ren Ferguson, creating a visual and tonal masterpiece." But this page doesn´t show the actual model of the Hummingbird Custom Koa.And I heard that Ron Ferguson has split up with Gibson. Here is my Question: Is the actual Model of the Humminbird Custom Koa also build/co-build by R.Ferguson ? Thank you in advance

I sure hope Ren touched every Hummingbird Custome Koa. I have one I bought brand-new last year. I've looked inside for any sign of Ren,but could find nothing. Like Krassi, I'd like to see some photos of your new guitar....you will not be disappointed!
JuanCarlosVejar
James , this video might give you some insight on the matter : since yours was built in 2012 Ren probably did not participate because he retired from gibson in December 2011 ( I think) he normally signs the top of the guitar . you might want to check for a signature still if you have a great guitar that means gibson continues to produce great stuff even if Ren is no longer there here is an article about Ren's retirement : http://www2.gibson.com/News-Lifestyle/News/en-us/ren-ferguson-retires-0111-2012.aspx JC

JamesMcCloud
Hey Guys, I´m sorry for my late reply, I was very busy this week. The guitar sounds unbelievable good, very transparent , full and warm (that one´s my first koa guitar) Definetly my best Gibson Acoustic, and on of the best guitars I´ve ever bought. Aster1
Beautiful guitar Ren or no Ren!!! Love that back. Just somehow it's a shame the backs only see the buckles & shirts instead of getting viewed. HNGD to ya!!! Aster
