Gibson J 200 neck specs

Okay. Here's the raw numbers -

The caliper reading was taken from the back of the neck to the top edge of the D string as it is pressed to the metal fret.

The distance from the fretboard to the top edge of the D string as it is pressed to the metal fret is .0625 inch

1 - .890 - .0625 = .8275 inch

7 - .930 - .0625 = .8675 inch

I am an hobbyist luthier and I am trying to build an acoustic guitar and I wish this had a neck like j 200 because I find it very comfortable to play. So sorry my bad english but I'm Italian and I speak little your language.

The fretboard width, depth and profile are things that do not change and therefore important to know before you buy. Feeling it in your hand is the best method to know. However, the distance from the strings to the fretboard is an adjustable thing called "action". You have have low or high action to suit your playing style.

 

I know my J200 is much beefier (is that a word) in my hand than my Songwriter.
