NGD hummingbird

Motherofpearl

Recommended Posts

I just acquired this beauty hummingbird via trade.

It's an HB mapleburst. By far the best hummingbird I've played tonally. Really projective and warm as I think a hummingbird should be.

I know some love the engraved pickguard I do myself but this one came out of the shop without one. Let me know your thoughts on looks and I don't mind brutal honesty be straight.

Looks good to me, but boy Gibson does do like to mix things up.

This one is a good example, no flower and binding, but still looks good.

I think the flower pickguard design is a real HB idenity but hell, the guitar still look darn purdy, and if she sounds as good as you mentioned then all is good ! [thumbup]

Congratluations, send us a sound sample if you can !

No they made a mapleburst collection for canada. They are working man guitars. They made an sj a j45 and hummingbird very few were made. I think 36 j45s 12 HB and even less sjs. I had the j45 previously and sold it to the guy I traded for this hummingbird. They are all pretty basic looking with a "mapleburst"

I like the guitar a lot, even without the bindings. Call it a Hummingbird – to me it's a square shouldered Southern Jumbo. One of my favorite guitars on this planet.

Especially when the talked about tulips crown the headstock.

Congratulations, , , and let us hear the deer when you feel like it.

Not sure I understand the
maple
burst expression. Looks like a cherry to me.

Ya I guess your kind of right about the southern jumbo.

Btw which binding are you referring too?

An exclusive Canadian run has the so-called "mapleburst". You'll get the marketing when you see a picture of the Canadian flag -

Yes, I get that BK, and see the connection to the burning maple-leaves (which I must experience in real life before leaving this planet), but the actual burst - marketing or not - looks like a normal cherry from here.

Maybe there is a broken hue my eyes just don't grasp. Or maybe I would have preferred a more pronounced change toward the chlorophyll-less autumn scenery after reading the intriguing phrase, mapleburst.

No big issue, have to say. . .

Ha to be honest I never noticed. Is there no binding?

Oooops, hope I didn't spoil your day - Appreciate your honesty.

Then again, it had to be discovered sooner or later.

Guess it has to do with the stipped back working man idea seen in the ad above (same princible as the J-45).

Anyway - won't affect the guitar's cool-factor at all.

Be happy.
