BluesKing777
Jannusguy pointed me to Mando W Headquarters for something else, but they have nice pics! Very dangerous looking site... I am glad I already have one of these elegant beauties, it is one of my best Gibsons, but currently I don't need another....... j45nick
Nice guitar, but a bit of an eye-watering price. For a few hundred more, they have what looks to be a very nice mid-30's L-OO. Now THAT's a guitar!

duluthdan
That's a dangerous site. Really enjoyed watching the video of the Philadelphia guitar show.
BluesKing777
Yes - it is probably a few hundred bucks too dear, but these shops do that to stretch ya pocket and see if you really want it? They are quite thin on the ground. When I saw it, I had to go and check if mine had been nicked! It could be a twin. Mine has a few distinctive wear marks, luckily. Mine has a lot brighter sound that the other guitars mentioned - non-scalloped bracing and a non-compensated nylon saddle - hard to describe the sound but if you get a Boom-chick-Boom-chick repetition fingerpicking style chugging along, you can get an almost snare drum snap on the 'chick' part and an overall 'glassiness'. How's that? Of course you would have to try this one to see if it is the same sound because it is, well, a Gibson. EDIT: Here is a old video I made with my 1959 LG3 - big mistake I made was not to wear the strap because the guitar kept slipping....: BluesKing777. 527
I'd go for an earlier one. Don't like the big pick guard.
jedzep
Dead on description of the LG2-3 tone, BK. If you try one that doesn't have these characteristics, hang it back up. I ended up keeping mine in the stable for both it's unique sound and the in hand comfort. Also, I received more than one LG devotee reminding me how nuts I must be for selling it. zombywoof
They sure ain't bashful about pricing are they? With the LG-2 and LG-3 though age does make a difference as Gibson started putting heavier braces and bridges on them in the mid-1950s. With those small bodies, the lighter the build the better.
