ParlourMan
Wee bit of a 'show & tell' thread, but see what ye's make of this.... Playing a gig for the travelling Scotland supporters tonight with my dodgy covers band. The supporters known as the Tartan Army are here in Lux as there's a game tomorrow night, hospitality section for us seeing as it's a bit on the nippy side here this week, anyway I digress... tonight will be first time trying out a new setup... I'll have 3 guitar channels all for me. A dry channel (the raw ingredients) a lightly compressed channel (The stock cube) a third 'wet' channel for the echo's, delays etc that get used live. (The chilli, garlic & ginger) All wide, spacious and fairly thick sounding but with the dry channel remaining the over-riding signal to keep it as acoustic/natural sounding as possible. Anyone running a multi / split signal setup. The wet channel will be controlled with a volume pedal to bring it in & out as required.... What d'ye reckon? EuroAussie
Err, leave your Gibsons behind PM, as there will be the inevitable drunk who will want to do his version of a Proclaimers tune ...
ParlourMan
J-45 & J-50 matey... was tempted to take the J-200 but decided against that for the reasons you mentioned. As for the 'geeze a shot mate' merchants, they will be unnecessarily reminded what the letters F & O stand for.
j45nick
Playing for the Tartan Army, PM? Leave the good equipment at home. This may be a case of casting pearls before swine. I know you're still a Glasgow boy at heart, but really........
ParlourMan
Fortune favours the brave, lads... They'll be no worse than any reasonably inebriated crowd, better than some.... They've a great travelling reputation to be honest and if all else fails, I've been doing full contact martial arts since my teens so I'll take a couple of them down with me :D

ParlourMan
at least theres no rangers celtic matches for a while ! There's not, but there's a mix of both in my band, we used to all watch the matches in the same pub, it was great craic, the patter was phenomenal. ...and idiots getting too worked up were soon put at a peep with a strong word or two. Very decent spirited actually compared to back home.

ParlourMan
Just home... may I say huge amount of respect for the Tartan Army, sang along like madmen to both sets and endured the longest ever rendition of Caledonia that may ever have happened. Perfect Gents & lassies, both Gibsons home and safe. Wicked night.

blindboygrunt
not that you were dreading it to begin with but sometimes the ones you arent looking forward to can be great fun , i've at least learned not to worry about what might happen at a gig until it actually does , and , funny enough , usually nothing happens ..... and if you have a room full of drunks then what happens is , if one steps out of line , the rest of the crowd are drunk and keen enough to sort him out for you ... if anything annoying happens its usally at a quiet gig . glad you had a good night
ParlourMan
Some comedian reached over to the singers setlist and added a few songs he'd liked to have heard, but no fumbling about the stage, no over-familiar types, just a rammed venue full of kilted party-boys who'd been on the sauce since lunchtime all singing along to every song they knew and about 30 choruses of Caledonia. Fabulous night, the venue was thrilled with the take, no hassles, no fights, magic atmosphere. Oh and the 3 channel sound was pretty cool, very thick sound overall... ideal giving the noisy/rowdy crowd.

BluesKing777
Glad you made it through, Chuck Mac! I didn't read the thread until it was over - phew. I had visions of a bucks party gone haywire travelling on a bus that turned up and rolled out at a gig I was doing with a blues band years ago - the hotel manager panicked and made it all worse and called the riot squad and everything got damaged in the big bust up, including my fave echo pedal that got full of beer. Riot vans, helicopter hovering overhead - the works that they use for footy crowds - must have needed some practice. That Caledonia tune lover gets around - he was just down the road here the other night........Australia. BluesKing777.

blindboygrunt
friend of mine played a final gig years ago in a pub that was closing down , silly landlord decided to advertise this , so when they arrived the landlord had been accepting the drinks his punters were buying him and was pissed as a fart ...they set up outside on a stage in the car park and within an hour every gypsy within 10 mile radius turned up , started helping themselves to pictures off the walls , outside tables into the back of vans , doing what gypsys do best basically . a quick vote amongst the group was taken and they all agreed it was time to finish the gig a tad early , they left to conplete chaos . small bonus was as they were packing up one of them lifted a stage board to find that quite a lot of the crates that made up the base were full of beer in bottles , so was a bit of a squeeze getting them all in the van by the time they nicked that . says he will never be in a pub thats within a week of closing ever again
